MUARA, Friday, 21 December 2018 – The Year-End Parade was held by the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) at the RBN Parade Square this year with Lieutenant Commander Malai Haszahrin bin Malai Yusof, RBN as the parade commander. Present as the guest of honour was First Admiral Pengiran Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pengiran Haji Muhammad, Commander of RBN.

The event commenced with a speech by Commander of RBN, in which he pledged the RBN’s undivided loyalty to His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah Ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. The Commander of RBN also expressed pleasure at RBN’s various achievements and accomplishments in 2018.

The speech was followed by an award and certification ceremony. 587 Commander Md Azrin bin Haji Mahmud, RBN and 613 Commander Sonny Iskandar bin Rasani, RBN were recognized as Commanding Officers of the Darussalam-class Patrol Vessels. 12 young officers were awarded Officers of the Watch, while the Rules of the Road Master award was conferred on 951 Lieutenant Mohammad Arif bin Tajuddin, RBN.

Other awards including the Coxswain of the Landing Craft, Sauh Emas, Bintang Harapan were also granted to non-commissioned officers recognised for their professionalism, leadership and work contributions. Additional awards were given for Best Physical Fitness to both male and female personnel of the RBN. This year, RBN also introduced the Promising Engineer award to acknowledge personnel who exhibited outstanding technical work performance.

The event concluded with a recital of the doa selamat by Imam Haji Mohd Andy bin Saile, Imam of Surau Al-Huda.
