MUARA NAVAL BASE, Friday, 1 February 2019 – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, the Minister of Defence and the Supreme Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF), consented to award the Royal Brunei Navy (RBN) Command Badge to Chief of Staff, Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF), Admiral Yutaka Murakawa in recognition and appreciation for his service in enhancing the relations between RBN and JMSDF.
The award was presented by Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of RBAF at RBN Headquarter.
Admiral Yutaka Murakawa took over as the Chief of Staff, JMSDF since 2016. Whilst in Brunei Darussalam, he also paid courtesy calls to the Second Minister of Defence. During the call, the Second Minister of Defence and Chief of Staff of JMSDF expressed their satisfaction on the warm and friendly relations between the navies of the two countries. The two sides reiterated their commitment in further strengthening defence related activities through the exchange of visits, trainings and exercises.
He also paid separate calls to the Commander of RBAF and Commander of RBN, First Admiral Pg Dato Seri Pahlawan Norazmi bin Pg Haji Muhammad.
Admiral Yutaka Murakawa is in Brunei Darussalam from 31 January until 2 February 2019 at the invitation of Commander of RBN.
